Rarity of Wine by CharlieRenwick Rarity of Wine by CharlieRenwick
Have been painting with wine lately for a uni assignment, experimenting with different densities and types of wine.

I realised I hadn't actually made any MLP fanart yet. I've been meaning to for ages.

So here's Rarity, done with merlot and shiraz.

MLP belongs to Hasbro.

I love it! So much that I stole your idea and made my own wine Rarity! (Sorry)
Drawing in wine is ridiculously fun, I hope you don't mind me asking how it's done. (That wasn't meant to rhyme)
So those little hearts, are they clear crayon?
And you seem to have two tones, a purple and a red-purple if I'm not mistaken. Which colours correspond to which wine varieties?

Thank thank you for introducing me to Elisabetta Rogai, this is so cool!

Ooh, it looks fantastic! And yes it is so fun! :la:

Really, I have very little experience with watercolour-type painting, so I'm probably doing it the wrong way, but I tend to just paint it really lightly, dry it with a hairdryer (it curls the paper but I'm impatient), then keep painting over it in layers, gradually making it thicker.

Actually, for the hearts I used a candle instead of a crayon, they're much cheaper. :D

The shiraz results in a cooler colour, the merlot has the more reddish-brown result. I'm yet to try other types of wine.

Thank you for the lovely comment, and have fun painting! Can't wait to see more of your work! :happybounce:

Ah that seems like a good idea, but my hairdryer is mounted on the wall and I can't get it off. It took forever to dry...

Interesting, it might make the picture smell nice and candle-y too!

I just bought five different bottles of really cheap wine to test out!

Thanks! I'm getting ridiculously excited about this wine painting thing!

Mine don't smell candle-y. :( But now you've made me want to try it with one of those cinnamon candles. They smell just like a bakery! :la:

I feel like wine is a suibable medium for rarity. It just has that level of elegance.
